Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Finance (based in London) and have responsibility for managing the day-to-day finance and accounting operations for Proximie, including the monthly financial close and preparation of monthly management accounts. This is a critical role in ensuring the efficiency of the daily financial operations of the business whilst also supporting across a variety of high impact, strategic and business critical projects. To be successful in this role you will need to be a qualified accountant, smart, confident and an excellent communicator, and be able to act without guidance. You will need to build strong relationships with our executive team and proactively support the Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer as needed. Your agility and attention to detail will be key in navigating our fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day financial operations and reporting, including:
- Preparing management accounts and managing the monthly financial close process.
- Preparation of monthly financial reports, including the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting for the UK, US, Lebanese and other group companies.
- Preparing customer invoices and statements.
- Processing and reviewing employee payroll, pensions, and expenses.
- Processing and reviewing supplier invoices and statements.
- Organizing payment runs and managing working capital.
- Preparing bank, corporate card, fixed assets, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Preparation of VAT/GST and other tax returns and computations.
- Support in the preparation of statutory accounts, including liaising with external advisors.
- Lead the annual financial audit, including liaising with external auditors and preparing supporting information as required.
- Manage a team of two accountants based in Lebanon.
- Work closely with and respond to requests for information from external service providers, including auditors, advisers, banks, and government and regulatory authorities.
- Provide insightful information and expectations to the Director of Finance to aid in long-term and short-term decision making and strategy, including identifying areas for process improvement and cost management.
- Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to drive the business performance of the organization.
- Manage and monitor KPIs, including short and long-term cash flow forecasting.
- Liaising with suppliers and customers from all over the world to resolve queries, maintain bank account information and ensure payments and reconciliations are performed in a timely manner.
- Other projects and tasks as requested by the Director of Finance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Finance, Accounting or equivalent.
- Qualified Accountant in CPA, CMA, ACCA or equivalent.
- Thorough understanding of UK GAAP (including FRS 102).
- Previous experience working with Xero, NetSuite, or similar accounting software.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Previous experience managing a small team.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present, negotiate and influence at a senior level with a range of internal and external key stakeholders with an ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
- Demonstratable experience in dealing with financial and management accounting requirements of a small to medium organization and fully conversant with current accounting and financial reporting requirements.
